Waste Management embraces the opportunity to be a good corporate citizen through a vigorous and growing community relations program that includes the opportunity to encourage and recognize communities for the good work they do. Both locally and throughout North America, we sponsor awards and contests to recognize individuals and groups for their efforts.

Here are some of the Awards Programs currently being sponsored by Waste Management.

Company Wide Sponsorships

City Livability Awards Program
WM is the corporate sponsor of the City Livability Awards, presented by the U.S. Conference of Mayors annually to cities in recognition of outstanding and/or innovative programs that have been developed by local city government. Programs can be recent or in the past but must be currently operating.

The United States Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are about 1,100 such cities in the country today. Each city is represented in the Conference by its chief elected official, the mayor.

The principal roles of the Conference of Mayors are to aid the development of effective national urban policy, strengthen federal-city relationships, ensure that federal policy meets urban needs, and provide mayors with leadership and management tools of value in their cities.
